Community at Heart
Community is at the heart of who we are as Waganakising Odawak—it reflects our interconnectedness, our shared history, and our responsibility to protect and uplift our people, lands, and waters. As a sovereign nation, we have the power to shape our future, and that future is strongest when built giinwi [with] all of us, together.
Over the years, we have been honored to serve our people through planning, coordination, and leadership in programs and events that bring us together—spaces where stories are shared, relationships are strengthened, and our identity as Odawak is affirmed. What we’ve learned is simple but powerful: it takes a community to make a community.
As leaders, we believe in creating a government that works for and with our people. A government that listens, acts, and strengthens the very foundations of our nation—our language, culture, economy, and the well-being of our families. We are committed to protecting our sovereignty and ensuring that every Citizen, no matter where they live, has a voice in our future.
We cannot do this work alone. Giinwi. It takes all of us, together, to move forward.
